Learn the traditional craft of basket-weaving. Jan offers workshops about one Saturday per month at the LESC (Senior Center) 312 College Ave, off Circle Drive. Each workshop features a different basket and is suitable for both new and experienced weavers. Prices vary from $30-$70, depending on the size and materials.
Adults who have their own paints and materials are welcome to join the Open Studio on the 2nd and 4th Thur afternoons for $20 per meeting. This is held at our gallery from 2-4 pm or 4-6 pm at LESC (Senior Center) at 312 College Ave, off Circle Dr. Students work on projects of their choice, using acrylics, watercolor, or any drawing media. Jan circulates among the students, trouble-shooting, answering questions, offering soft critiques (suggestions and tips) , and presenting the occasional short lesson on art theory and techniques. This is a relaxed and friendly group who gather to make art —no pressure!-3
Sue Grimes teaches both watercolor and acrylic classes in a Realism/hard-edged style. Students bring their own photo or pick from art book. Class includes placing drawing on canvas using grid system, paint mixing and application. Instruction times are Wednesday 11:00-3:00 or Saturday 9:30-12:30 at price of $40 per class. Jan Faubel will guide you on your exploration of the tips and trick of painting like Monet with acrylics or how to develop a loose approach to watercolors. Students may arrange to meet with Jan on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month 12:30 - 3:30, $40 per lesson with materials ($30 if you bring your own). Learn to work from copyright-free photos or from original still life arrangements
During the school year, Jan teaches art to homeschoolers
Age 10 and over class is held every Thursday 10-11:30 .
Age 5-9 class is held Thursdays 12:30 - 2.
Classes cost $25 per week (all 8”included) or $80 per month if paid in advance. Students experience painting, drawing , collage, block-printing, basket weaving, and more.
